Glubjat is a unique word suggesting something that is both fish and amphibian and that is a very apt observation as this species is a taxonomical uncertainty. But most agree that the glubjat is largely amphibian in nature. The “weeping” aspect of the name comes from its plaintive call, which most closely resembles a sobbing old woman in sound. But the glubjat is anything but unhappy as it merrily ambles across the damp forest floor. It is unafraid of almost everything, including humans, and will approach people and even lick their hands in a show of friendship or affection.
